Content Managment System

A Content Management System (CMS) is a multifunctional database driven web software system that is used a to create, edit, and store HTML content. Content is created and edited on the web through a secured administration section of the application, commonly referred to as the backend. The content is then displayed to visitors on the website, which is known as the frontend. A CMS program lets owners update their website content without having to learn programming.

Content Management Systems allow any number of persons within a business to add, edit and delete content pages of a website quite easily. No programming or HTML experience is necessary. Editing can usually be done with any normal web browser that has access to the web.

A CMS separates the web design and content management functions. With a CMS, the content of a website's pages are not pre-written into those pages, but drawn from an online database when a user requests a page. The client has the ability to change the content of the database by means of an administration interface. A custom CMS gives you full control over the changes you want on your website, when you want them. The benefit to a small business is immeasurable.
